Under the direction of Leora L. Borek MD, the NeuroHealth Memory Disorders Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of memory disorders and dementias. We have created a supportive environment for the most comprehensive medical care to achieve the best possible outcome for patients and families. We recognize that caring for someone with a memory disorder takes patience and a focus on things patients can still do and enjoy.

About Dementia
An estimated 2 million people in the U.S. suffer from severe dementia and another 1 to 5 million people experience mild to moderate dementia. Five to eight percent of people over the age of 65 have some form of dementia and the number doubles every 5 years over age 65.

Dementia is a neurological disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, speak, reason, remember and move. Dementia may also manifest itself in behavioral and personality changes, depending on the area(s) of the brain affected.

Some types of dementia get worse with time and cannot be cured. Other types can be treated and reversed. The three most common forms of dementia are Alzheimer's disease, multi-infarct dementia (MID) or vascular dementia, and Lewy body dementia.
